“Localpioneer” unites prosumers and energy suppliers

Aachen, 10.12.2018: “May inspiration be with you!” That’s one of three messages that SOPTIM AG has for the upcoming E-world 2019. The Aachen-based software company wants to inspire customers and interested parties, especially when it comes to partnering up to search for new digital solutions. The company’s “Localpioneer” is going to be the basis of a lot of discussion in this context at the fair. Behind this label there’s a new web-based energy market platform, in which SOPTIM wants to bring together energy suppliers and prosumers. 

Yves van Cauteren, Product Owner at SOPTIM, explains: “#Localpioneer is a platform for all pioneers looking to make the new energy world more sustainable, decentralised and digital. It unites all of those involved: from normal energy consumers to private and commercial prosumers and energy suppliers; from PV system owners to storage system providers. For environmentally conscious digital prosumers, it’s like a playground, a digital service store and an exchange platform mixed into one. For energy suppliers, it provides fertile ground for digital ideas and offers the opportunity to try out new additional services and implement new business models. 

Prosumers state requirements – suppliers make offers

On the platform, prosumers, for example, have the opportunity to submit offer requests online. Meanwhile, energy suppliers are able to make appropriate offers. For this purpose, differential load cycles determined on the basis of intelligent measuring systems are forecast in the background utilising SE: Sales, and are then priced and formulated in an offer. If a deal is made, the contract can be made directly via the platform. 

“We have recently implemented this comparatively simple use case in the system, and we will outline this example on screen at the E-world fair from a prosumer and supplier perspective,” says van Cauteren. “With the increasing popularity of PV systems, energy storage systems and electric vehicles, more complex business models are coming to the fore. Using our platform, both prosumers and suppliers have the opportunity to optimise data-based generation, consumption and procurement. For energy suppliers, our Localpioneer platform also acts as a tool to attract new customers in the prosumer market segment. The focus is clearly also on commercial prosumers with challenging load patterns. We are very much looking forward to interesting discussions in Essen. We hope to inspire our customers to implement new business models and to be inspired ourselves.”

Apart from the fact that SOPTIM is now operating this new energy market platform, the Aachen-based company also remains true to its calling. Its partnership model for contracted clients, which has now become its modus operando, will feature just as much at the E-world fair as its entire product suite. That includes SOPTIM Energy Suite, the SOPTIM EMPor (MaBiS processes), SOPTIM iTrade (short-term trading), SOPTIM NomT (nomination management) and SOPTIM Connect (solutions for measurement and distribution) applications, which are all incredibly popular with users. SOPTIM subsidiary sbc soptim business consult will be set to present its extensive range of consulting services, including topics such as digital transformation, process excellence and agility. SOPTIM AG is also invested in esterion GmbH from Berlin, and its team will be on board to show smart meter forecasts and its key figure cockpit.

 And just to ensure that things stay exciting at SOPTIM’s booth, the company is planning “20x20” talks, interactive workshops and an OTC walk. With a partners’ lunch and happy hour, there are always generous time slots set aside for refreshments and informal networking. SOPTIM CEO Andreas Duve: “We are very much looking forward to spending three exciting days with partners and interested parties again – and it’s possibly going to be more exciting and inspiring than ever before.”
