A successful marketing of natural gas or electricity products in the liberalized energy market requires a precise calculation of offers. For one of the largest electricity suppliers in Europe SOPTIM AG guarantees the dictum that cannot be achieved with any standard product: all different types of offers can be calculated. Furthermore, products of the competition can be emulated for reference offers.

On behalf of the customer SOPTIM AG models the existing company environment and processes in a custom-made software to calculate offers. The software is property of the customer who thus influences its entire design. The basis is trust gained in a cooperative relationship of more than 30 years.
Task
The great economic importance and complexity of the creation of offers demands an audit-proof and consistent procedure within a global company. In this distribution should get optimum support for any type of customer. The software has to fit in the system environment and to actively support processes.
Objectives
With the start of the liberalization of the energy market in 1998 many distribution departments developed their own systems based on the commonly used MS office products "MS Excel" or "MS Access". The declared objective was the consolidation of all calculation tools used until 2001 in a software solution that can be used across the group. Nothing was left to chance. Besides SOPTIM an independent QM auditor was assigned to supervise realization up to rollout.
Once the original objective of consolidation had been achieved new requirements, which were reliably met at short term by SOPTIM, arose after implementation because of new challenges in distribution.

Characteristics
Offers for energy supply (natural gas and electricity) to business customers with any number of supply points, regionally and inter-regionally, can be created using the software developed by SOPTIM. Thus the complete range from retailer up to the processing of complex tenders is covered. The software links the most various IT systems and takes on a central role in the creation of offers. It is characterized by flexibility, stability, auditing acceptability and efficiency. At a push of the button distribution gets the required results. For this the customer also licensed the products SOPTIM ZRM, SOPTIM ZRM-IF and SOPTIM NNE to increase efficiency with attractive modules for its sales representatives.
