Powerful Net Energy Management for Distribution System Operators Print
NEM

SOPTIM NEM provides comprehensive and flexible support for the tasks to be performed and the requirements to be met by the distribution system operator electricity in the field of energy data management.

Flexibility, performance and being up-to-date are the characteristics of SOPTIM's toolbox for distribution system operators.

  • Flexibility, to be able to react to the different and changing demands of the electricity market.
  • Performance is essential to master mass data, automate processes and thus control costs.
  • Being up-to-date is paramount to be able to securely apply the market-relevant procedures and formats at the dates set by the Federal Network agency.

With regard to content SOPTIM NEM does not only master the basics of energy data management to perfection. All processes in the context of system management are integrated and supported with highest quality and thus with highest value added.

SOPTIM NEM supports:

  • In regard to strategy: Security and transparency in balancing and MaBiS processes and thus the minimizing of risks in distribution system operation.
  • In regard to tactics: Core processes in balancing, surpluses/shortages, and change of supplier can be integrated and thus processed based on validated and consistent data and established EDM functions saving resources and using a high degree of automation.
  • In regard to operation: Distinctive areas of operation provide the basis for a detailed modeling of data structures oriented on the technical and legal demands. Side systems in the Office world become unnecessary. Cockpit functions, analysis tools and flexible evaluations give a current view of the processing status at any time and prevent transgressions of deadlines.
  • As reliable and performant IT system: In cooperation with the ERP system on the one hand and the remote counter reading or metering data management system on the other SOPTIM NEM is the secure and central platform of the manager of the power supply system.

Automated EDM processes: Time series management, validation and processing of metering values, replacement value procedure, editors, graphic display, export and import mechanisms to various sending mechanisms in the form of technical models are the basis for technical processing and an effective and transparent operation.

System Balancing: Being a result-relevant core process for system operators balancing has highest priority for SOPTIM. Various profile procedures (GEA, TU Munich, system operator profiles) in synthetic or analytic shape are applied based on valid annual energy forecasts and customer values. Flexible aggregation procedures connect load profiles and metered actual usages to form meaningful sums of suppliers and balancing groups. While considering the REA amounts that are generated distributedly in the system and marketed directly: Daily, deadline-controlled and quickly.

MaBiS-Processes: In the form of a control center the valuable MaBiS cockpit informatively and clearly controls the activities of the system manager in dispatch, quitting and checking in communication with suppliers and balancing group coordinators that are linked to many processing deadlines.

Supply management according to GPKE: All processes of data exchange and processing in context with change of supplier, moving in or out, basic or replacement supply are processed performantly and with highest ergonomics and automation. These directly affect balancing; securely and immediately. Our standard: Process when in doubt only and guarantee a consistently high quality of data using stock lists.

Completely integrated market communication: SOPTIM's systems master all market formats - from UTILMD to MSCONS to IFTSTA. Optionally coupled with the company's EDIFACT data hub or based on the EDI server by SOPTIM AG.

Determining Surpluses and Shortages: The calculations of surpluses and shortages in electricity and gas form a corrective of balancing. Based on actual reading data, the procedures of SOPTIM NEM integratedly determine deviations from the sent results of balancing. Calculated for each metering point, documented for each supplier.

Views of Balancing Groups: Difference and delta quantities lead to the current differences between ACTUAL and TARGET and thus mirror the financial risk.

Operative and strategic REA and CHP management: Unique in the market in depth and shape, SOPTIM reacted to the enormous challenge of the exploding number of distributed facilities: Components SOPTIM NEM and SOPTIM EKM connect the core processes of balancing to all processes concerning renewable energies. Interactingly, of course - supply by third parties listed on the balance sheet and complete or partial direct marketing directly affect the balancing result and thus guarantee highest quality of the feed-in time series and balancing group nodes.

REA and CHP facilities are modeled completely, compensations are calculated and DSO reports generated. In line with the REA 2012 the alterations have already been implemented:

Calculation of Costs and Revenues for Net Access: Besides energetic indexes financial key and planning data is a relevant instrument of control for the system manager. SOPTIM NEM determines exactly these indexes from operative data, for each ruled area and each voltage level based on fee of network access, fees avoided, procurement costs for losses and the relevant energy time series. Net revenues can be anticipated and contrasted with expected cost.
